Angels, holy spirits, cherubim, seraphim – they are very prevalent in many religions and stories around the world. Many times people may think of them like this:

The world may think one thing about angels, but as Christians, we need to always always check everything with the Bible when it comes to God, faith, religion, and even angels.

What are angels?

According to Psalms, it says:

Bless the LORD, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
Bless the LORD, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!

Psalms 103:20-21

Angels are mighty spirits who do (obey) God’s Word. They do God’s will. In other words, they don’t act according to their own desires. One did, and I think we know who that was.

Angels are God’s messengers. The name, “angel”, comes from the Greek word for “messenger”. In Hebrews 1 it tells us,

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Hebrews 1:14

They serve those who will receive salvation – in other words, they help believers who are following God’s word. Angels are given tasks such as harvesting (Matt. 24:31, Rev. 14:14-16), they also are God’s army (Rev. 19:14-21), they also help and guide those who desire to learn the truth (Acts 8:26-40). You even have Archangels who are commanders of the God’s army (Josh 5:13-15).

These are just a short glimpse into what angels are and what they do. If you want to learn more, then I suggest watching this video. May it enlighten you to know more about God’s ministering holy spirits, and how they work.

I pray you can receive a lot of grace and understanding from this video.

Peace.
