Many religions try to teach the way to salvation and truth. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and others, but there is only ONE who can teach us the true path to salvation. That is through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Jesus says in John 14:6,
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
But now, if you have found that true path, and are walking on it…do not let yourself become distracted with worldly teachings. Even within Christianity, many churches preach their own rules and doctrines as much as (or more than) God’s Word itself.
Colossians 2:6-8 states,
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
And further goes on in verses 18-23,
Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.
While many teachings mean well, they don’t do anything for you spiritually. God’s Word revealed through Christ is all we need to attain salvation and the truth. If you hear someone, especially a Christian, insist you do something to help you connect to God or Christ that’s not through God’s Word, don’t do it.
It’s not the true path. We should only follow God’s path for salvation.
